Lagan Building Contractors shortlisted for LABC Building Excellence Awards 2016

04 Apr 2016

Lagan Building Contractors have been shortlisted as a finalist for the East Midlands Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Excellence Awards 2016 for their design of a new Truck and Van Servicing and Dealership Centre at Old Station Yard in Lincolnshire. The project has been shortlisted in the category for Best Large Commercial Building which recognises design schemes used for commercial use paying particular attention to quality project management and sensitivity to local environment.

The new servicing and dealership centre required design for a high performance workshop including pre-fabricated steel service and MOT pits. Works carried out by Lagan Building Contractors included complete site clearance, foundations, mechanical and electrical installation as well as concrete surfacing. One of the planning requirements of the Local Drainage Board was to provide a sustainable drainage system. In accordance with this, a large marshalling yard together with a water lagoon was installed.

The LABC Building Excellence Awards are a two-stage process representing 12 regions at events starting in the spring and running through to mid summer. Regional winners are automatically short listed for the LABC Grand Finals, which are held in London in the autumn.

LABC is a not-for-profit membership organisation that represents all local authority building control teams in England and Wales.
