GRAHAM Lagan Construction Group JV are delighted to have been announced the winners of the GB and RoI Construction Award for their Joint Venture on the Green Port Hull in East Yorkshire, at the 2017 Construction Excellence Awards, held on the 13th October.
Despite extremely impressive entries for this category in the competition, the judges were highly impressed with the GRAHAM Lagan Construction Group JV sound relationships with the client, design teams and construction teams. These well-established relationships were crucial to the success of the project as it faced various significant challenges, such as difficult ground conditions and a demanding environment on an estuary on the North Sea with a large tidal range. This was a large-scale project worth £114 million in construction value that was delivered in 28 months, on budget and ahead of schedule. Project details included 650 metres of new quay wall, 7.5. hectares reclaimed from Humber, 1.4 million cubic metres of sand dredged and used. A supply chain including components and materials from far afield such as the likes of Norway and Turkey. Altogether, the project included 750,000 man hours without a reportable accident.
The awards also recognised an additional 13 category winners from across the construction industry in Northern Ireland for excellence in general construction, housing, infrastructure and quality performance.
